Death Metal

Death Metal is an extreme subgenre of metal with influences from; NWOBHM bands like Motörhead, Thrash bands like Slayer, 1st generation black metal with Venom and even hardcore punk. The lyrics are usually morbid, depicting gore and death, usually growled, though sometimes screamed. It is played with low-tuned and distorted guitars, with blast beat drumming. It is played in minor keys and features time signature changes.

The band 'Death' are considered early pioneers of the genre.
